Arriving at the west end of Bristol yard, we were in time to catch GP40-2 No.6414, now on the
point, heading west with their train of car haulers that they had picked up in the yard earlier.
With 6414 and train westbound on the left, three GP38s with 5734 on the front are coming out of the
yard with their train. No.5734, 6227 and 5703 were standing on the ready track on the previous page.
No.6224 a GP38-2 built in 1975 and aquired from the DTI in 1980, is coming out of the yard
with a train of car haulers.
Towards the afternoon we head back east of Flint to the diamond of the GTW and CSX and capture
the International coming across the diamond headed for Flint station.
This ends our One Saturday in Flint tour.
About one year later, Oct.2,1993 to be
exact, I made a stop at the west end of
Bristol yard and captured one of GTW's
old work horses, No.4434 a GP9. It was
built in 1954 as No.1758. She was one
of GTW's first "Geep" type diesels built
by EMD. Grand Trunk used these
"Geeps" in main line service, switching
and local freight service.
